The eye care medical field has an unusual split between two different types of insurance for covering eye issues: health insurance and vision insurance. Not all patients have both.

To Our Valued Patients:
Hopefully, good health remains with you and your family. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: Our commitment to excellence, and that includes your safety. Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice, and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the New Mexico Optometric Association (NMOA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up to date on new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agency’s recommendations.
You may see some changes in the office when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. Our office will communicate with you before your appointment to ask you a set of screening questions. You will be asked those questions again when you are at the office. The office team will be asked the same screening questions every day before coming in to work.
Our doors will be locked to help facilitate patient flow in and out of the office. Once you arrive at our office, please call us at 575-758-3215 so we can greet you at the door and assist you. Your temperature will be taken upon entering the office and recorded in your records. If you have a temperature higher than 100°F, you will be asked to reschedule.
Due to the nature of the exceedingly close contact required to conduct an eye examination and fit glasses (interactions can be as close as 8 inches), we are requesting that each patient wears a mask during the duration of their visit in the office. For the time being, we will not be offering magazines or brochures in the waiting room, as those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.
We will be managing appointments to allow for social distancing between patients. This could mean there are fewer options available to schedule your appointment. We will be allowing greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the waiting room at any one time.
If you are shopping for glasses, we ask that you wait until an associate can assist you with frames. This will help control the sanitation of frames. We ask that additional family members who do not have an appointment either stay at home or in the car if able. If you have a child scheduled for an appointment, we ask that only one parent or guardian accompanies them.
Thank you for being our patient! We value the trust and confidence you have in our office.
We look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors, and friends!
